Dabba + wala a box + carrier person spelt as dabbawalla or dabbawallah, a meal box delivery man. A meal box carrier man literally meaning box person, is a person in India, primarily Mumbai. He is a man employed in this service industry of transfer after collection of freshly cooked meals, from the suburban areas of the city, to the people, of these lunch meals specially packed in cylindrical metallic containers working in the offices, workplace and elsewhere, and then returning the empty boxes back to the customer's residence. Various means of transport are used.
